Ease in to Fall...

Did you just see the word "Fall" and freak out on me a little bit? Listen, I know it's annoying to be constantly pushed into the next season, but it's the way things are so let's just embrace it. That being said, this Smashbox set - exclusively at Nordstrom - is a great makeup set to wear into fall. Besides the fact that the price is ridiculously fair (it is $59 for goods worth $161), how adorable is the little clutch?

Inside the clutch comes a baked blush/loose shimmer powder duo in Candle-lit (who doesn't want to look "candle-lit?" 'Tis the most flattering light, after all), gorgeous smoky eyeshadow quad, Lash DNA (Smashbox's brand spankin' new mascara), a huge palette of cream eyeliners (10 colors!!), a hot lippy color, and double-ended precision brush.

This set will surely turn you into a smoldering vixen...don't say I didn't warn you. Get it here.

Look hot....NOW.

I wonder what would happen if I started randomly yelling that at people. Just a thought. :) Anyway....Get ready for multiple swoon-worthy beauty product posts because Nordies is having a beauty party. They are rolling out lots of Nordstrom Exclusive beauty packs - and they are amazing. MAC is first on my list. They have put together these great "Look in a Box" sets - you can choose "Seductress," "Sun Siren," or "Sweet Tease." Huh-looooo, who doesn't want to be any of those? Sign me up for all three, please.

For $59.50 - which is a STEAL - you get a lippy, 2 eyeshadows, 1 face powder, mini mascara, and buki brush.

It's so much easier when it's pulled together for you - just apply and go....and look hot, don't forget.

Be Radiant.

Here's another way to add insta-glow to your complexion. This stuff from the Body Shop is ahhhhmazing...use a little Kabuki brush to swirl the top of the magical little beads, brush over your entire face, and VOILA! Perfect, candle-lit glow achieved. "Brush on Radiance" gives you a perfect amount of shimmer - very subtle. You could also use this on bare shoulders this summer, or anywhere else that could use a little highlighting.
Check it out here.

Interaction encouraged.

Friends...what do we think of this trend?

This came to me in a fashion/beauty newsletter I receive (www.whowhatwear.com). I have done this when I'm ultra-casual and maybe running to the store or something...but it never looks like a knot directly on top of my head. I appreciate the casual messiness of it...and I wondered what my peeps would think about this look.

Ready? Go.

Gearing up for Father's Day

Hey friends! So Father's Day is fast approaching and you are definitely wondering what to get good ol' Dad. Seriously, unless you have the most proto-typical dad who loves Home Depot and grilling, what in the H-E-double hockey sticks do you buy for the man who helped raise you? Let me assure you, The Nest is here to help. They have put together a little slide show of ideas for all sorts of different dads...and if you don't find the most perfect thing there? Maybe it will provide a little inspiration for something else. Hey, it's better than nothing. Trust me, Dad (or another important man in your life) will thank you.

Test Beauty Products + Review Them = Free Beauty Booty

I am a huge dork about trying new things and an even bigger dork about getting free stuff. The pinnacle of my dorkdom has been achieved with this opportunity (along with the snazzy puzzle books-remember, loyal readers??). Collective Wellbeing is a company that produces natural products for skin, body, and hair - I think they sell their goods at places like Whole Foods, etc. If you go to their website, you might notice a spot that says "Top Secret Study in Progress!" Oooooh....mysterious. Click on it, and it takes you to a survey. Fill it out, and you may be selected to test some new products. Test some new products and snag a $25 gift certificate to use on their site. You'll notice, if you look around a little, that their products are super affordable. I got the honey scrub (I LOVE EXFOLIATION!), and a pumice/peppermint buffing bar for the feet to keep them super happy between pedis (and had a little money left over). Just a fun little something something to brighten your day. Who doesn't love free stuff?!?

Shaving is the pits.

And that's why I'm here to let you know about a deodorant that helps you shave less. Dove Visibly Smooth deodorant claims to "minimize the look and feel of underarm hair over time." My research is still a work in progress, as I just purchased the product a little over a week ago. Protection wise (I'm not afraid to admit to being what we might call a "sweat-er"), the deodorant is great - and I bought the regular formula, not the clinical protection. If this stuff can control my sweating, make me smell lovely, AND lessen the stubble under my arms...by golly I think I'm sold.

You can snag a coupon for $2 off (that's pretty generous!) at their website here.

Some news about yours truly...

I wanted to share a little news with my beloved readers that I'm pretty excited about and that will influence some of the posts you see on here in the near future. Because I love good food and I love talking about the good food even more, I have been selected to be part of a new group in Indy called "TasteCasters." Indy is joining a few other cities around the country that have started this, so way to be on the cutting edge. Basically, a group of people who are plugged in (FB, blog, Twitter, you name it) are invited to eat at different establishments around Indy. In turn, we will be using said social networks and blogs to describe our experience. I am completely pumped to be a part of this, and can't wait to share my experiences with you guys. Our first outing will be on June 26th at King David's Dogs downtown....so look for a post talking about awesome hot dogs and tater tots. And then look for a post detailing my new workout regimen. :)

If you want to read more about TasteCasting...go here.

Stay tuned, friends!

Scarf Style

I am in loooooove with scarves, as my family and friends are probably well aware of.  Wearing one every time they see me would probably lead them to that conclusion.  ANYway....I have a repertoire of about one or two ways to tie my scarves - and have been asked by people "how do you tie your scarf that way?" enough times that I thought it would be helpful to do some research on stylish scarf tying....and share it with you, of course.  I found a pretty great (and thorough!) website that has a ton of different ways to tie a scarf...some seem to be geared more towards scarves of the silken variety, but I think these are easily adaptable.  My favorite thing about this website is that it gives you visual instructions on every style - nice!  As a bonus, the names to all of these different scarf-tying methods are listed - making you sound like a complete fashionista when people ask - "How did you do that?"  And you say, "Oh, this?  It's just the Butterfly Wrap."  As for me?  I'll continue the European Loop.

Get scarf schooled here.

A Fabulous Micro-derm Product

One of my personal goals in life is to have awesome skin.  Listen, as superficial as it may be, not only do I feel better knowing that I'm taking good care of myself, but my self-esteem might get a little boost from it too.  I think as I'm getting older (30 in August, that's right), taking good care of myself is more and more important - nobody wants to end up looking like leather-face, right?  One piece I've recently added to my regime is this unbelievable exfoliator by Origins.  Modern Friction is super gentle, which I completely appreciate now that I understand how harsh other exfoliators can be on your face.  And I admit, I've been known to say things like, "If I could take sandpaper to my face, I would." But we know that's not good for the skin, now don't we?  This magical pudding makes my skin GLOW, as well as making it super duper soft and smooth.  I'm on the every other day usage track (which is definitely the most I would recommend using it) - but you can use it every three days, whatever your little heart and skin desires.  Here is the description from the Origins website.  Oh, and did I mention this stuff is all natural - HURRAH!  Your skin will thank you, you won't be able to stop checking yourself out, and other people will be jealous.  You, 1 - aging, 0.  Check it out here.

Sand-blasting skin with coarse, chemical crystals? How painfully passé. Here’s age-smoothing exfoliation without irritation. Skin-refining Rice Starch, cushioned in cream, shows real affinity for rapidly removing sluggish cells, uneven patches and signs of skin damage and discolorations. Lemon Oil kick starts the process of illumination. Another age-sweeping action: skin-menacing molecules are mopped up. All while Aloe keeps skin calm and comfy. There’s no ouch, extra steps or other complications. No redness or flaking follows. The before-and-afters are amazing. Signs of fine lines and size of pores appear to shrink in size. Skin looks perfectly polished, smooth and luminous. And the perk-me-up aromas of Bergamot and Pepperminthelp you look on the bright side.

Worlds are Colliding...

I found something that unites my girliness with my nerdiness - and my world is forever changed.  I love to play games - and I do some sort of word puzzle every night before I go to bed.  Right after my skincare regime, of course.  Anywho...these adorable puzzle booklets had me at "pocket posh," with their whimsical little designs and the puzzles that hide within.  It nearly blows my mind.  Doing puzzles just got a whole lot cooler.

Get yours here.
