Pore issues? Try this primer.

I am currently obsessed with this amazing primer. While Smashbox and Bare Escentuals are of a gel-like consistency, Urban Decay's version specifically targets visible pore concerns and is a thicker, more lotion-like consistency. Maybe it's because my skin is getting drier (thanks, winter weather), but I love the way this stuff makes my skin feel - not to mention the flawless appearance of my no-longer-visible pores.

FYI, there is another UD primer formula for brightening that did not impress me. I did try it in sample form, and there wasn't a lot in the sample, but the pore perfecting formula blew it out of the water for me.

Perfekt Eyes

I recently tried a sample of Perfekt Eye Perfection Gel in Bright and I have to say, this product quickly earned a permanent spot in my makeup bag.

I will be honest in saying that dark circles under my eyes are not one of my beauty woes, but when I patted this light-as-air mousse-like formula under my eyes, my skin tone looked perfectly even and bright. Not to mention how soft and smooth it made the skin under my eyes feel. It's amazing how much your entire face is brightened when the area around your eyes is taken care of. A few minutes after application, this product has a nice cooling sensation as well (which I am a huge fan of). This product can be used as an eyeshadow primer as well.

Me = Living Proof that this stuff WORKS!

Previously, I posted on the most effective frizz reducer I've ever used here...and as if that wasn't enough to make me one happy consumer, Living Proof has gone and introduced Shampoo and Conditioner.

A moment of honesty: I was a teeeeeeeny tiny bit skeptical that this would not weigh my hair down and/or make my hair look greasy when I tried this. To my great pleasure (and surprise), these products did the exact opposite. What I've really recognized about the Living Proof line is that the products genuinely just take away that nasty frizz and leave you with gorgeously soft, shiny, and smooth hair!

I am totally sold and so happy with this line...if you have frizz issues I would absolutely recommend trying any of their products. Check them out here.

Here's to great hair days.....................XOXO, Tiff.

Hello, Holidays!

WOW, is it seriously that time of year? Does anyone else think this year completely flew by? If you are wracking your pretty little brain for fun gift ideas AND trying to adhere to a budget, check out Sephora sale. This has always been quite under the radar to me, as Sephora does not seem to have an overt way to get to the sale items. I always just search for "sale" and voila! I am whisked away to a land of affordable prettiness - pure magic.

One magical item is this "Decade of Glamour" set by Too Faced. Completely packed with everything you need to create multiple looks of gorgeousness, it will set you back only a measly $19.50 (a $195 value!!). The packaging is super cute as well, and it contains some past favorites of the brand that are no longer available.

Look at this and many other sale items here.

Hot Shoes.

I was flipping through my newest issue of Lucky when my eyes spied these hot little shoes. As I cringed in anticipation of some crazy price that would file these shoes under "unaffordable," I saw this: $55. WHAT? That is the exact opposite of unaffordable! Upon further research, it turns out that these shoes come in 5 different colors. I think this qualifies as a great find.

My Favorite Lip Butter

Anyone who knows me understands that I am obsessed with "lippies." I mean, OBSESSED. Like I carry around 20 with me at all times in a special lippy pouch obsessed. I just hate it when my lips feel dry, and I like to have options. :)

Of all the lippies I have tried, Korres lip butter is the one I come back to time and time again. While the color is super sheer, and I wouldn't depend on it to be my lip color when going out, it is unbelievable hydrating and softening. I use it every night before going to bed and wake up with perfectly nourished lips. There are so many yummy flavors; my favorites are the more nude colors Jasmine and Guava. At only $9/pop, you can afford to try a few.

Kitten? Color me Smitten.

Kitten is an eye-shadow color from Stila that you should definitely become acquainted with. I've always loved the perfect nude-champagne powder color, but Stila has gone above and beyond with the Kitten Smudge Pot. This super flattering color is now available in creamy perfection - and is an unbelievable multi-tasker:
1. makes a great base for powder shadow - your eye color will not fade through the day/night AT ALL

2. looks purrfectly pretty when used as a highlighter under the brow

3. used alone, provides a beautifully sheer wash of color and is perfect for a natural, casual look

4. a little in the inner corner of your eyes makes them 'POP' and makes you look wide awake

These are just 4 I can think of off the top of my head....but I'm sure there are more ways to wear this product. This one is so universally flattering - it should be in everyone's makeup bag.

Eye Do.

I have to tell you how much I adore this little eye anti-puffer by Garnier. This product uses a little metal roller ball to deliver eye gel that promises to de-puff and brighten your eye area. The metal roller is cooling, which feels amazing (especially in the AM, when I enjoy anything that will wake me up a little), and the massage-like action works to break up any fluid that has collected under your eyes during sleep. In addition, it contains caffeine and vitamin B-5 to assist in de-puffing and brightening.

Need another reason to use a roller for your eyes? The skin around our eyes is so delicate, and constant tugging or pulling can aid in creating fine lines. The roller is a gentle way to deliver the product. If you use cream with your fingers, gently pat the cream around your eyes.

Yes Bare Escentuals, I Have Met Matte.

After being bombarded by (great) marketing touting Bare Escentual's newest innovation, I finally gave in and tried the matte version of their super popular mineral powder foundation.

As it turns out, I'm probably sticking with it. Having combination skin, I have a tendency to be glowy....okay, okay, shiny....by day's end. No longer is that the case with my beloved Matte. The coverage is great, but sheer, and it doesn't look powdery. The result at the end of the day is even better - somehow, my face still looks fresh. Of course, I'm still giving credit for my skin's ability to look great right now to my new PFL (product for life), the Clarisonic, but this Matte version stands alone in its own right.

Side note: The new packaging is much better and a whole lot less messy than the regular powder...as you see in the picture, the Matte features a twist top so you can ensure less product spills, and happier consumers.

Check it out and buy it here.

Shiseido + Cotton Pads = Blogworthy

I know, I know. I'm blogging about glorified cotton pads. COTTON PADS for crying out loud!! But wait...you have not tried the cotton pads in question. And yours truly is in sheer disbelief and shock that she has not stumbled across these little miracles sooner.

I can't tell you how many cotton pads I've tried - I always look for and try the "premium" types that promise not to disintegrate on your face....and what happens? They promptly leave little cotton streaks on my face.

But no longer will this sort of thing happen to me, oh no. For a mere $9.50 (I know it's cotton but TRUST ME), you get the softest, most durable little cotton warriors you can find. Since I've been tissue-ing my facial cleanser off, these little darlings help remove every trace of dirt/makeup while keeping my skin so amazingly soft. There is enough to last you a good while in the package, and trust me my little dears, you will not be going back to Target for your cotton pads.

Check these out here.

Current Skincare Obsession Alert

If you've been following my blog (and I know you hang on my every last word), you know that I've been on this ridiculous quest to find the most effective skin care - not to mention figure out what the heck is going on with my skin in the first place.

Apparently, I have been continuing to treat my skin for issues that don't really concern me. With a little help, I was directed to skin care that would address skin texture and even out my skin tone - previously, I assumed that the little bumps on my cheeks were due to acne and that the rough texture on my forehead was just dry skin. And this is why I'm no dermatologist. :)

Through all of this, I was led to Caudalie - and thank goodness. I can't tell you how much I absolutely adore this line. It is pricey, yes, but a little goes a looooooong way with this stuff. I am currently using the Gentle Cleanser (which I have been removing with cotton pads instead of rinsing with water - leaves my skin so unbelievably soft), Vinoperfect Radiance Serum (which helps even skin tone and lighten hyper-pigmentation), and Vinosource Anti-Wrinkle Nourishing Cream (for normal-dry, anti-aging).

The products contain grapevine polyphenols (super duper antioxidants) - and many other skin-nourishing goodies. Did I mention they all smell amazing as well?? And maybe even more importantly - I may have been told multiple times over the past weekend that my skin was "glowy." Tiffany:1, skin issues:0.

Say Hello to my Little Friend.

Yes, I know that this is nothing new...the Clarisonic skin brush has been around for a good while now. BUT, it is brand new to yours truly...after literal years of coveting this gadget, I finally treated myself last week. Boy am I glad I did.

Immediately after my initial use, I noticed how ridiculously soft my skin felt and how evenly toned it appeared. A few short days later, my skin is officially transformed. While some may experience blemishes at first (this is so deep-cleaning, much like getting a facial, that it will bring those deep blemishes to the surface), it will clear up very quickly and reveal the amazing skin you know you have.

I'm going to share with you the skin care line I'm currently obsessing over in my next post, but believe me, this is a MUST HAVE addition to your skin care regimen. I don't take expensive purchases lightly - but you won't ever be sad about this splurge, I guarantee it.

Have a Clarisonic already? What's your take?

This brand-spanking new kit from Bare Escentuals contains all-over face color and 3 eye-shadows infused with a natural plant extract that mimics the effect of endorphins, thus creating happy feelings for you!

I love the colors in the kit, not to mention the cute case that comes with the set! This kit also contains BE's new Flawless Definition mascara - which is amazing. Let me clarify: if you want totally natural, yet defined lashes (that remain soft even after you apply the mascara), buy this product.

Shea you, Shea me

O......M.....G. Do yourself a favor and go buy this immediately. The Shea Cashmere line at Bath and Body Works is little known about - but for those who do know, there's no going back. Not only does this stuff feel amazing on your skin, the scent is to die for. The description says "soft vanilla," but I'd describe it more as a sophisticated deep caramel-vanilla twist. Regardless - it's perfect for the fall and impending cooler weather...it's like wrapping yourself in the coziest, softest cashmere wrap.

Fabulous Fall Reason #11

Big, cozy scarves. I think this is such a beautiful deep magenta - and would look great paired with gray. What a great way to transition into those "not quite cool enough to wear a jacket" fall days/nights. Keep on Moroccan me, Baby

I have a confession, dear readers. I have totally and completely been holding out on you on this one. I do assure you, however, that it has been of the accidental nature and will not happen again.

Now that I have that out of the way...let's talk about maybe one of the best hair products I've ever used. I have been using this for quite a while now (as in, for about 8 months) and LOVE it. I have very thick, confused (wavy, curly, frizzy) hair - but this oil does the exact opposite of weighing it down as you might think oil would. When I rub a dime-sized amount through my damp hair before blow-drying, I am left with shiny, soft, health-looking hair. I also use it as a finisher to tame "new growth" and enhance shine.

I have never heard a bad thing about this product, no matter what your hair type.

Oh, and you know how I've been using it for 8 months? Still using the same bottle. It lasts FOREVER. And smells great, too.

Best.Cleanser.Ever.

Purity Made Simple by Philosophy is hands down the most effective facial cleanser I've ever used. Given to me by one of my newest favorite people (thank you, L.L.), I have used it religiously ever since. This cleanser removes every single trace of makeup and dirt in 60 seconds...and makes me doubly happy because I only need to follow it with moisturizer. My skincare routine is more effective and less time-consuming? Color me happy. This may be the first product I'm prepared to make a commitment to.

Excited for Fall Reason #9

Returning health to that summer-wrought head of hair. While I haven't tried the shampoo and conditioner in this line, I can tell you that the 3-Minute Undo is an amazing little (cheap!!!) product. This hair treatment uses 3 fruit oils (olive, avocado, and shea) to restore health and moisture to dry and damaged hair.
I LOVE the results - not only does this stuff smell and feel fabulous, but my hair is soft, shiny, and bouncy. I am a walking hair commercial. At least in my own little world, and that's all that matters, right?
Find these at your local drug-store or mass retailer.

Ready for Fall Reason #6

Fall scents for home! Does anything say "warm and cozy" better than coming home to a yummy, I've-been-baking-pumpkin-pies-all-day type of scent? Bath and Body works always has the best Fall-inspired scents, and I look forward to stocking up every year. This year, you can scent your home with Pumpkin Patch ("the perfect blend of fresh pumpkin, ground cinnamon, brown sugar and vanilla cream"), Harvest Berry ("bright red berry, invigorating bergamot and cassis are blended sweetly with light citrus, jasmine and anise to create this exotic fragrance"), Leaves ("autumnal notes of golden nectar, juicy mandarin and red delicious apple are paired with toasted cinnamon stick, mulled cider spices and freshly harvested red berries"), Autumn Apple ("crisp and bright–the sparkling scent of autumn apples with pear blossoms and a hint of applewood"), Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin ("this tantalizing scent blends spicy pumpkin puree with sweet butter and vanilla cream"), Spiced Cider ("a warm, magnetic scent that mulls three varieties of fresh apples spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves"), and Ginger Vanilla ("rich, creamy caramel, fresh nutmeg and delicious gingerbread blend sweetly with candied apple, bright lemon zest and warm vanilla to delight the senses").
With so many delicious choices (as well as , your home is sure to be a place that will provide warmth and comfort throughout Fall - especially when cooler temperatures set in!

And Then I Saw No Frizz...Now I'm a Believer

This product has most definitely earned a permanent spot in my beauty closet. I have tried so so very many de-frizzing products over the years, that I eventually gave up on finding one that actually worked...and turned into a frizz-free cynic to boot. I just kind of resigned to the fact that I am stuck with a huge mane of frizzy hair, post-blow- drying, that absolutely requires a flat-iron to look decent enough to walk out the door. And woof, you don't even want to see my hair after air-drying.

While I'll admit I haven't tried the air-dry yet (it is truly frightening), the results I've seen from this product after blow-drying are phenomenal. My hair is so much smoother - and I have cut my flat-ironing time down by over 50% (I still need to iron out some kinks here and there, plus I have bangs). I use the "straight-making" formula for medium to thick hair. They also have formulas for fine to medium, and thick to coarse - as well as formulas for curly hair.

This product was developed by a scientist at MIT - as if I didn't think they were geniuses already.

Get more info about this product here - a 4 oz. bottle will cost you $24.

A Manicure That Lasts?

So I've been hearing more and more about these "No-Chip" manicures lately - which, quite frankly, would blow my mind considering I'm looking at my VERY chipped manicure that I received a little over a week ago. The no-chip manicure process promises to leave you with a great, good-as-new manicure for the better of 2-3 weeks.

I researched this process to see what it is all about, and here is what I've found. Basically, the non-chipping capability comes from a gel polymer that is painted on your nails (this is actually healthier for your nails than normal nail polish). This hardens under a UVA light, and VOILA! A chip-resistant manicure for 2-3 weeks.

The Villa (one of my most favorite gems of Indianapolis) is offering a trial price of $32 for the no-chip manicure, which is a $33 savings on the regular price of $65. If you'd like this deal - e-mail me at tiffs.faves@gmail.com and I will send the coupon your way!! This is a fantastic deal - The Villa provides an awesome ambiance and you will be on the cutting edge with your manicure that won't quit.

...if I get to experiment with Test Tubes like this. Through this program brought to you by the fine people at New Beauty Magazine, you get to sample a plethora of cutting edge beauty products for $29.95 per tube. This cylindrical wonder is sent out 4 times per year, and is seriously packed with beauty goods from the likes of Korres, Peter Thomas Roth, Dr. Brandt, Fekkai, Shu Uemura, and more. Ease in to Fall...

Did you just see the word "Fall" and freak out on me a little bit? Listen, I know it's annoying to be constantly pushed into the next season, but it's the way things are so let's just embrace it. That being said, this Smashbox set - exclusively at Nordstrom - is a great makeup set to wear into fall. Besides the fact that the price is ridiculously fair (it is $59 for goods worth $161), how adorable is the little clutch?

Inside the clutch comes a baked blush/loose shimmer powder duo in Candle-lit (who doesn't want to look "candle-lit?" 'Tis the most flattering light, after all), gorgeous smoky eyeshadow quad, Lash DNA (Smashbox's brand spankin' new mascara), a huge palette of cream eyeliners (10 colors!!), a hot lippy color, and double-ended precision brush.

This set will surely turn you into a smoldering vixen...don't say I didn't warn you. Get it here.

Look hot....NOW.

I wonder what would happen if I started randomly yelling that at people. Just a thought. :) Anyway....Get ready for multiple swoon-worthy beauty product posts because Nordies is having a beauty party. They are rolling out lots of Nordstrom Exclusive beauty packs - and they are amazing. MAC is first on my list. They have put together these great "Look in a Box" sets - you can choose "Seductress," "Sun Siren," or "Sweet Tease." Huh-looooo, who doesn't want to be any of those? Sign me up for all three, please.

For $59.50 - which is a STEAL - you get a lippy, 2 eyeshadows, 1 face powder, mini mascara, and buki brush.

It's so much easier when it's pulled together for you - just apply and go....and look hot, don't forget.

Be Radiant.

Here's another way to add insta-glow to your complexion. This stuff from the Body Shop is ahhhhmazing...use a little Kabuki brush to swirl the top of the magical little beads, brush over your entire face, and VOILA! Perfect, candle-lit glow achieved. "Brush on Radiance" gives you a perfect amount of shimmer - very subtle. You could also use this on bare shoulders this summer, or anywhere else that could use a little highlighting.
Check it out here.

Interaction encouraged.

Friends...what do we think of this trend?

This came to me in a fashion/beauty newsletter I receive (www.whowhatwear.com). I have done this when I'm ultra-casual and maybe running to the store or something...but it never looks like a knot directly on top of my head. I appreciate the casual messiness of it...and I wondered what my peeps would think about this look.

Ready? Go.

Gearing up for Father's Day

Hey friends! So Father's Day is fast approaching and you are definitely wondering what to get good ol' Dad. Seriously, unless you have the most proto-typical dad who loves Home Depot and grilling, what in the H-E-double hockey sticks do you buy for the man who helped raise you? Let me assure you, The Nest is here to help. They have put together a little slide show of ideas for all sorts of different dads...and if you don't find the most perfect thing there? Maybe it will provide a little inspiration for something else. Hey, it's better than nothing. Trust me, Dad (or another important man in your life) will thank you.

Test Beauty Products + Review Them = Free Beauty Booty

I am a huge dork about trying new things and an even bigger dork about getting free stuff. The pinnacle of my dorkdom has been achieved with this opportunity (along with the snazzy puzzle books-remember, loyal readers??). Collective Wellbeing is a company that produces natural products for skin, body, and hair - I think they sell their goods at places like Whole Foods, etc. If you go to their website, you might notice a spot that says "Top Secret Study in Progress!" Oooooh....mysterious. Click on it, and it takes you to a survey. Fill it out, and you may be selected to test some new products. Test some new products and snag a $25 gift certificate to use on their site. You'll notice, if you look around a little, that their products are super affordable. I got the honey scrub (I LOVE EXFOLIATION!), and a pumice/peppermint buffing bar for the feet to keep them super happy between pedis (and had a little money left over). Just a fun little something something to brighten your day. Who doesn't love free stuff?!?

Shaving is the pits.

And that's why I'm here to let you know about a deodorant that helps you shave less. Dove Visibly Smooth deodorant claims to "minimize the look and feel of underarm hair over time." My research is still a work in progress, as I just purchased the product a little over a week ago. Protection wise (I'm not afraid to admit to being what we might call a "sweat-er"), the deodorant is great - and I bought the regular formula, not the clinical protection. If this stuff can control my sweating, make me smell lovely, AND lessen the stubble under my arms...by golly I think I'm sold.

You can snag a coupon for $2 off (that's pretty generous!) at their website here.

Some news about yours truly...

I wanted to share a little news with my beloved readers that I'm pretty excited about and that will influence some of the posts you see on here in the near future. Because I love good food and I love talking about the good food even more, I have been selected to be part of a new group in Indy called "TasteCasters." Indy is joining a few other cities around the country that have started this, so way to be on the cutting edge. Basically, a group of people who are plugged in (FB, blog, Twitter, you name it) are invited to eat at different establishments around Indy. In turn, we will be using said social networks and blogs to describe our experience. I am completely pumped to be a part of this, and can't wait to share my experiences with you guys. Our first outing will be on June 26th at King David's Dogs downtown....so look for a post talking about awesome hot dogs and tater tots. And then look for a post detailing my new workout regimen. :)

If you want to read more about TasteCasting...go here.

Stay tuned, friends!

Scarf Style

I am in loooooove with scarves, as my family and friends are probably well aware of.  Wearing one every time they see me would probably lead them to that conclusion.  ANYway....I have a repertoire of about one or two ways to tie my scarves - and have been asked by people "how do you tie your scarf that way?" enough times that I thought it would be helpful to do some research on stylish scarf tying....and share it with you, of course.  I found a pretty great (and thorough!) website that has a ton of different ways to tie a scarf...some seem to be geared more towards scarves of the silken variety, but I think these are easily adaptable.  My favorite thing about this website is that it gives you visual instructions on every style - nice!  As a bonus, the names to all of these different scarf-tying methods are listed - making you sound like a complete fashionista when people ask - "How did you do that?"  And you say, "Oh, this?  It's just the Butterfly Wrap."  As for me?  I'll continue the European Loop.

A Fabulous Micro-derm Product

One of my personal goals in life is to have awesome skin.  Listen, as superficial as it may be, not only do I feel better knowing that I'm taking good care of myself, but my self-esteem might get a little boost from it too.  I think as I'm getting older (30 in August, that's right), taking good care of myself is more and more important - nobody wants to end up looking like leather-face, right?  One piece I've recently added to my regime is this unbelievable exfoliator by Origins.  Modern Friction is super gentle, which I completely appreciate now that I understand how harsh other exfoliators can be on your face.  And I admit, I've been known to say things like, "If I could take sandpaper to my face, I would." But we know that's not good for the skin, now don't we?  This magical pudding makes my skin GLOW, as well as making it super duper soft and smooth.  I'm on the every other day usage track (which is definitely the most I would recommend using it) - but you can use it every three days, whatever your little heart and skin desires.  Here is the description from the Origins website.  Oh, and did I mention this stuff is all natural - HURRAH!  Your skin will thank you, you won't be able to stop checking yourself out, and other people will be jealous.  You, 1 - aging, 0.  Check it out here.

Sand-blasting skin with coarse, chemical crystals? How painfully passé. Here’s age-smoothing exfoliation without irritation. Skin-refining Rice Starch, cushioned in cream, shows real affinity for rapidly removing sluggish cells, uneven patches and signs of skin damage and discolorations. Lemon Oil kick starts the process of illumination. Another age-sweeping action: skin-menacing molecules are mopped up. All while Aloe keeps skin calm and comfy. There’s no ouch, extra steps or other complications. No redness or flaking follows. The before-and-afters are amazing. Signs of fine lines and size of pores appear to shrink in size. Skin looks perfectly polished, smooth and luminous. And the perk-me-up aromas of Bergamot and Pepperminthelp you look on the bright side.

Worlds are Colliding...

I found something that unites my girliness with my nerdiness - and my world is forever changed.  I love to play games - and I do some sort of word puzzle every night before I go to bed.  Right after my skincare regime, of course.  Anywho...these adorable puzzle booklets had me at "pocket posh," with their whimsical little designs and the puzzles that hide within.  It nearly blows my mind.  Doing puzzles just got a whole lot cooler.

Get yours here.
